‘Biophotonics; A Marriage of Sciences’ by Professor John Girkin

Due to the complexity of many problems in today’s modern world, interdisciplinary approaches are now becoming a standard route to answering challenging questions. Biophotonics, the integration of optics and photonics with instrumentation to help answer complex biological questions, has been a very successful collaboration for around thirty years. This webinar will look at some examples of the way that Biophotonics has delivered answers to significant research questions and will explore ways that the lessons from research in this area can now be applied to develop new interdisciplinary successes. Examples will range from the development of modern DNA sequencing technology through cell signalling to dental diagnosis.
